Hello, and welcome back to my Blog!
According to ServiceNow, 55% of organizations have rolled out 100+ AI use cases in 2024, yet only 19% can measure their business impact. Most CHROs are caught between Board pressure for AI HR ROI and the reality that silo pilots are not delivering transformational value.
If you’re a CHRO and/or VP of HR getting started in innovating HR in the age of AI and agentic technology, this workshop framework will accelerate your journey from AI experimentation to strategic transformation, connecting business strategy → AI vision → workforce and skills→ roadmap.
The challenge:
When beginning your AI journey, it’s tempting to start with technology questions .I get the following questions constantly:
– Which AI tools should we pilot first?
– What’s the right HR tech stack?
– Which LLMs do you recommend?
Instead, we should ask these strategic questions:
– How will AI Transform work itself in our organization?
– Which HR roles will be transformed vs. eliminated vs. created?
– What organizational capabilities do we need to build for AI-enabled HR success?
– How do we align AI implementation with our core business strategy and create measurable value?
My Approach:
After facilitating AI HR transformation workshops with enterprise organizations, I recommend starting with an executive-level strategic workshop (with pre-work) that establishes the transformation foundation, followed by targeted implementation workshops.
Phase 1: Business Alignment & Vision
⦁ Align HR strategic goals with Board/CEO expectations
⦁ Assess how GenAI and agentic AI reshape work itself
⦁ Co-create a bold vision for your HR function’s future, including new roles and critical skills
⦁ Define organizational capabilities needed
Phase 2: Prioritization & Action
⦁ Transform use case brainstorming into strategic portfolio decisions
⦁ Build detailed implementation roadmaps with pilot specifications and resource requirements
⦁ Establish governance frameworks that balance innovation with risk management
⦁ Develop a change strategy to support human-AI collaboration across the enterprise
Next Steps:
→ Start with strategic alignment, not technology selection.
→ Develop your vision and enablement framework before you move to the pilot phase.
→ And remember: you’ll need to think about your workforce as both agentic and human.
